Determined Joy

TrilliumAlong the trail, the trilliums bloom, pure in their perfection.  They’re fragile blossoms, with a sweet determination to trumpet the few, precious notes that are theirs to sing in the endless, flowing song.

In human terms, their lives are brief.  A week, maybe two, and then they are gone.   But they make the most of their days, setting an example, leaving their lessons.  They revel in the woodland’s light and shade, and dance with the birdsong and breeze.  They broadcast their joy.

May we do as much, rising in gladness, determined to dance and to sing.

Wishes on the Wind

Cloud Swept SkyWhatever you have become, wherever you may be, I send you wishes, my child, on the wind.

May your days be filled with discovery and gladness.  May you walk with fine companions down smooth and sunlit roads.

May your heart be filled with hope and celebration.  May your laughter fill the skies.

May you find comfort for any pain, healing for any hurt, peace for any turmoil that may ruffle your soul.

May you continue to be playful and kind, and to brighten the spirits of all who surround you.

May you revel in adventure, and rest on sandy shores beneath a setting sun.

May beauty surround you; may goodness and truth be yours.

May you know that you will live in my heart forever, and will be forever loved.

Playtime

Pumpkins and Mums.

The pumpkins are ripe; it’s playtime.  Quick! Get your giddiness on!

Fall into life’s arms laughing. With all this bright gladness about, what else is there to do?

Play is the child of wisdom, you know, the melody of the Yes.  It’s the best teacher and the highest art all rolled into one ball of wax.

Put your cares on the shelf and whisk yourself to the world where imagination reigns.  Pull your dreams from your attic’s trunks and wear them, dancing, in the sun.

Skip down the sidewalks; whistle in the streets.

Live from the place where every pretend is possible and all possibilities are but a wisp of thought away.

The Gift of a Grateful Heart

Golden Chyrsanthemums
Gratitude opens as golden as dawn, unfolding the petals of the heart.  In its light, joy sings, peace reigns, hope bursts forth.

Its warmth dissolves fear.  Its power blots out lack.  It comforts and satisfies and fills.

To taste gratitude is to taste the nectar of life.  Its richness revives us and reveals life’s worth.  It drenches us in complete acceptance.

It comes as a gift, humbling us and making us whole.  Its gentle flame kindles our desire to extend ourselves to one another, to give of our talents, to participate in life with gladness and joy.

In the beauty of its light, we sense our connection to all that is, and to the undying Yes that dissolves all the mysteries.  “Be at peace,” it whispers to our hearts and through them.  “All is well, and you are loved.”

Happiness Is . . .

A Patch of Bright DaisiesSo the Great Divine One whispered in Mother Nature’s ear, “Give them something to make them glad.”  And that’s why there are daisies.

They weren’t her only response to his wish, of course.  Bountiful creature that she is, Mother lavishly scattered the earth with billions of tokens of joy.  Starfish, pandas, rainbows, snowflakes.  The list is goes on and on.

And then she built into us the wondrous capacity to take delight in them and to choose our personal favorites.

The Great One was, as always, exceptionally pleased with her efforts.  In celebration of them, he sent an edict to the Cosmic Coincidence Control Center ordering them to strew our paths with them at frequent intervals.

Then, when we come across them~when we see or touch or taste or smell or hear one of our favorite things~we can know that Something out there loves us and wants us to be glad.
