The Carol of the Trees: A Happiness Tale
For days, heavy clouds had blanketed the sky. The season’s first snow had come, then melted, its moisture seeping down through the soil to the trees’ roots. They loved the taste of melted snow.
Now, after all the dreary days and long nights, the sun had returned and the sky was a deep winter blue.
The trees knew the cycle of the seasons well, and they drank the day’s light in gladness, taking it as a herald of the sun’s approaching birthday.
Soon now it would be born again and grow in strength until it bathed all the earth with its life-giving light. And so they raised their branches high and sang their carol of hope and joy.
